Is lift installation included in the lift price?
Sorry, but Installation is not included. We are able to source a local contractor if you are not equipped or comfortable installing the lift yourself. Will my lift come with anchor bolts and hardware to mount to the floor?
All surface mounted lifts do ship with the necessary anchors required for mounting the unit to your floor. Read about our Lift Installation Services.
Does hydraulic fluid come with the lifts?
Hydraulic fluid is to be supplied by the end-user only and will be required for operation. All surface mounted lifts are designed to operate using standard 10-weight, non-foaming, non-detergent hydraulic oil or Dexron-III ATF fluid. This is available in virtually any automotive store.
Do I need a special floor or foundation to support my new lift?
Most residential or commercial foundations are strong enough to support any one our surface mounted lifts, but specifications of concrete must always be strictly adhered to. Failure to do so could cause lift failure resulting in personal injury or death. Read about our Lift Installation Services.
A level floor is suggested for proper installation and level lifting. Small differences in slope may be compensated for by proper shimming – most all lifts ship standard with shim packs. If a floor is of questionable slope, consider a survey of the site and/or the possibility of pouring a new level concrete slab. Read about our Lift Installation Services.
Be sure to check your floor on the possibility of it being a post tension slab. In this case contact the building architect before drilling. Visually inspect the site where the lift is to be installed and verify the concrete is in good condition. If your concrete has cracks or other defects, please consult with a certified contractor before proceeding to install any surface mounted lift.
Lift owners and end users are responsible for the safe installation of their lift. Because local and statewide building codes may change and/or vary, always check with the building architect before installation for additional guidance on UBC compliance requirements. What if I am unable to unload the product at my home or business?
OPTION 1 - Our freight carriers have literally hundreds of terminals located across the United States. If you have explored all options yet still find you are unable to safely or efficiently unload the product at your home or business, it can be shipped instead to a freight terminal for customer pick up. Our courteous dealers or factory sales professionals will work together with you to find the closest freight terminal.
NOTE: Freight terminals have different operating hours and loading procedures. We advise all customers to contact the terminal in advance to inquire about operating hours and loading procedures. The freight terminal will load the product onto the customer's trailer or pickup truck. Open trailers are easier to load and unload than an enclosed trailer. Be sure to bring a positive ID in order to pick up your product at the freight terminal.
OPTION 2 – Wrenchers Warehouse uses a nationwide network of independent contractors for lift installations. In the event you wish to have a lift installed by a professional team, you may be able to have the lift shipped to their facility then delivered at the time of installation. OPTION 3 - Some of our freight carriers have hydraulic lift-gates service on many of their delivery trucks. There will be an extra charge for the lift-gate delivery depending on the carrier. Lift-gates are normally rated at 1000 LB. capacity so they are usually not enough capacity to unload most of our heavy-duty products. However when used properly, hydraulic lift-gates allow some of our customers the ability to off load many of our products without the use of a forklift. Remember, it is always the customer's responsibility to unload the truck. If the power tailgate brings the product to the ground, it is the customer's responsibility to get the product off the power tailgate. Always be prepared before the truck arrives.
If I have an item shipped by truck freight is the driver responsible for unloading the merchandise?
No, truck freight companies do not require their drivers to unload shipments. It is the buyer's responsibility to unload the freight at their location. Wrenchers Warehouse will take no responsibility for additional charges of any kind that may incur related to, or involved with, the renting or acquisition of equipment of any kind necessary to unload items off of a delivering carrier's truck. An additional service fee will apply to all residential deliveries of heavy-equipment. An additional service fee will also apply to any lift-gate service. Do I need a Delivery Appointment?
You would need a delivery appointment if you require that the freight carrier contact you at least 24 hours in advance to schedule a time to deliver your freight shipment. An appointment charge will be assessed for this service. Read about our Delivery and Shipping Details.
What is a lift-gate?
A lift-gate is a device used to raise and lower items from ground level to the level of a tractor trailer. Freight carriers deliver items on a tractor trailer which is 56 inches above the ground. These trailers are designed to load and unload at a loading dock or with a fork-lift. If your delivery location does not have a loading dock or fork-lift and the item is too heavy to remove from the trailer by hand, then you may need a lift-gate. Do I need lift-gate delivery?
There are several ways to avoid paying lift-gate delivery costs. If your delivery location has a loading dock or fork-lift you do not need a lift-gate. If the individual items in your shipment are light enough for you and your friends to remove from the truck you do not need a lift-gate. If none of these options work for you then you may need lift-gate delivery. Read about our Delivery and Shipping Details.What is Residential Delivery? Residential delivery is a term and fee used by freight carriers to describe delivery to any address which is not zoned commercial. Usually this is a home, but it could be a church, farm community center, etc. Businesses run from a home are still considered residential. Additional charges will be incurred for such deliveries. What should I look for when inspecting my shipment?
Be sure to inspect your shipment thoroughly when it arrives. Always inspect all items for damage, and verify the number of items you are receiving matches what appears on the freight bill/delivery receipt. The driver may be impatient but be thorough. Unlike UPS or FedEx, if you sign your freight bill free of any claims then you have little recourse if you later discover that it is damaged.
What if my item is damaged?
You have two options. You can note the damage on the freight bill and accept the item anyway, or you can refuse the shipment. About 99% of freight damage is cosmetic. If you sign the freight bill damaged then the freight carrier will approve reimbursement for parts and repair or replacement cost of the item, or provide compensations depending on the damage to your item. This is often the best option if you need to get your item operational and the damage is cosmetic. If you refuse the shipment it will be returned to us and we will ship a replacement as soon as possible. This may take some time due to stocking issues and transit times. If you accept your shipment in a damaged state it is very important that you call the freight carrier immediately to schedule an inspection and file the freight claim. You should take good pictures from different angles of the item and the packaging, and you should save all packaging material. DO NOT refuse your shipment if you observe minor cosmetic scratches or abrasions. You may be responsible for round-trip freight charges if your claim for damage is denied.
What about sales tax?
All orders destined for California and Tennessee will be charged applicable state sales tax - even if ordered through an out-of-state dealer. If you are a tax-exempt customer, you will be required to send us a signed copy of your tax exemption certificate.
All factory direct and special order items are subject to the manufacturer’s return policies and associated restocking charges. The customer must retain original cartons and contact our Customer Service Department within 10 days from the date of the invoice before any product is returned to the manufacturer. Special or custom order products of any kind cannot be returned for credit or refund. A 10% cancellation charge will be assessed on all processed orders.
It is the customer’s responsibility to check cartons for signs of damage, shortage, or abuse. The customer should open the cartons and check the contents and note any shortages or damages to the freight bill at the time of delivery. It is the customer’s right to refuse any shipment that shows obvious signs of damage or shortage at the time of delivery. If damage is discovered after the delivery driver has left, retain damaged packaging materials and contact our customer service department at 1-800-587-0663.
